R.I.P., Elmore Leonard
Nobody could write like him. Nobody. He's known, as he should be, for his top-notch dialogue, but that's only one piece in the larger pattern. The language, the characters, the action, the humor, it all flows together so naturally, to read it is like listening to smooth jazz.
Thank you, Dutch, for teaching me so much about writing, for filling so many of my hours with joy, and for leaving behind such an incredible body of work, which I will continue to read and reread for the rest of my days.
