Weakness into Strength!

I love it when something big happens in a book, turning a character's defining liability -- recklessness, for instance -- into his or her defining strength. Survival stories and post-apocalyptic tales excel at this, but it's a trick available to any of us who write.

Hi John,

Where do you find these clips? I really get a kick out of them.

Does Christina still like "The Gift of Fear" or am I in trouble.

Glad you're liking the clips, Joyce. I find them online, and my biggest source so far has been a site called 4gifs.tumblr.com. I'm glad that a couple of people have said they're enjoying the gifs, because I only started posting them recently, and you know how it is with funny stuff... tough to tell whether it works for everyone or just yourself!

She started it, liked what she read, and then got blindsided by GONE GIRL, which she loved. Not sure if she'll go straight back to THE GIFT OF FEAR or if her love of GONE GIRL will push her first in another direction. But yeah, she liked what she read, and it was a solid recommendation. Thanks!

Gone Girl is on my list too. Don't push The Gift of Fear. If she read some of it I'm sure she got the message.
Take Care.
